Splash Coins Cookie Policy

Splash Coins Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, the categories we use on this site, what each category does and how you can change your preferences at any time. The policy is updated whenever we change our cookie usage in any meaningful way. We are committed to full transparency about the data we collect and how we use it, in line with Canadian privacy law under PIPEDA and the oversight of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. Cookies are an everyday part of the web, used by almost every site you visit to remember preferences, keep you signed in and measure how the site is being used. Splash Coins uses cookies in four categories, each of which has a different purpose and a different level of privacy impact. We believe you have the right to know exactly what is being stored on your device and why, which is why this policy is written in plain English and updated whenever our practices change in any meaningful way.

Essential cookies are the ones that the site cannot function without. They keep you signed in, remember your shopping basket if you have items in the loyalty shop, protect against cross site request forgery and a handful of other security tasks. Essential cookies do not require consent under Canadian data protection law because they are strictly necessary for the service you have asked for. Without these cookies the site would not be able to maintain your session, verify your identity securely or process transactions safely.

What are functional and analytics cookies?

Functional cookies remember your preferences across sessions. They are the cookies that keep your language set to English, your currency set to CA$ and your favourite games at the top of the lobby. Without functional cookies, you would need to reset your preferences every time you return to the site, which would make the experience significantly less convenient. These cookies store nothing sensitive and contain no information that could identify you to a third party.

Analytics cookies are anonymous and used to measure how the site is being used. They tell us which pages are popular, which buttons are tapped most often and where players get stuck. The data is aggregated and never linked back to your individual account or your personal details. We use this aggregated information to make decisions about product development, page layout and the features we prioritise for the next release. The data is retained only as long as it is useful for those purposes and is deleted on a rolling schedule.

How do marketing cookies work?

Marketing cookies are used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and promotional campaigns. They tell us which campaigns brought new players to the site and how those players behaved after they arrived. We do not use marketing cookies to build advertising profiles for sale to third parties, and we do not use them to retarget you with adverts across other sites unless you have given us specific consent to do so through the cookie banner. If you have not consented to marketing cookies, none will be stored on your device.

We take our obligations under PIPEDA seriously. The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act sets out your rights in relation to personal data collected about you, including the right to access that data, the right to request its correction and the right to withdraw consent for its collection at any time. Our full privacy policy explains those rights in more detail, and you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca if you have a complaint that you feel has not been addressed by our team.

How do I manage my cookie preferences?

The cookie banner that appears the first time you visit lets you accept all cookies, customise your preferences by category or reject everything except the essential category. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the cookie settings link in the footer of any page. The banner will reopen and you can adjust your selections without having to delete anything manually. Changes take effect immediately and the new preferences are stored so that your next visit starts with the same settings you chose.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings, including blocking all cookies, blocking third party cookies only or deleting cookies that are already stored. Every major browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Opera — has a cookie management section in its privacy or security settings. The specific steps vary by browser and version but the process is broadly the same across all of them. Using the browser approach gives you control across every site you visit, not just this one, which some users prefer.

How long are cookies stored on my device?

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. They exist only for the duration of your visit and leave nothing behind once the browser window is shut. Persistent cookies are stored for a defined period that varies by purpose, ranging from twenty four hours for some essential cookies up to twenty four months for some analytics cookies. The full list of cookies, their names, their providers, their purposes and their exact expiry times is available on request from our support team. We are happy to provide that list to any player or regulator who asks for it.

Third party cookies set by our analytics or payment providers are governed by those providers' own privacy policies in addition to ours. We vet every third party tool we use to make sure it meets the standards required by Canadian privacy law and our own internal data governance policies. If you have a concern about a specific third party tool, please raise it with our support team and we will investigate and respond within a reasonable timeframe.

What if I want to delete all stored cookies?

You can delete all cookies stored by this site, or all cookies stored on your device, through your browser settings at any time. Doing so will reset your session, sign you out of any active login and clear your saved preferences such as language and currency. You will be shown the cookie consent banner again on your next visit and can make new choices from scratch. Deleting cookies does not delete your account, your game history, your balance or any other account data held on our servers. That data is managed separately and is subject to our data retention and deletion policies, which are described in the main privacy policy.

What cookies does Splash Coins set?

The site sets cookies in four categories. Essential cookies cover login, session, security and basket. Functional cookies cover language, currency and lobby preferences. Analytics cookies cover anonymous usage measurement. Marketing cookies cover promotional campaign measurement. Only the essential category is set automatically. Every other category requires your consent through the cookie banner before any cookie is stored. We comply with PIPEDA and the oversight of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada in everything we do with your data.

How do I change my cookie preferences?

The simplest way is to click the cookie settings link in the footer of any page. The cookie banner reopens and you can change your preferences by category. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings, which is a more powerful option because it works across every site you visit, not just this one. The browser approach can block all cookies, block third party cookies only or delete cookies that are already stored on your device. Changes made through the banner take effect immediately. Changes made through the browser take effect as soon as the setting is saved.

Do you use third party cookies?

We use a small number of third party cookies, mostly from our analytics provider and our payment processors. The analytics cookies are anonymous and used only to measure how the site is being used. The payment cookies are set when you make a deposit or withdrawal and are required for the payment to work securely. We do not use third party advertising cookies that track you across the web unless you have specifically consented to marketing cookies through the banner. Every third party provider we use is vetted against Canadian privacy law standards and PIPEDA requirements.

What happens if I reject cookies?

If you reject every cookie category except essential, the site will still work. You will be able to sign in, play, deposit and withdraw. You may notice some minor differences, such as your language preference resetting between sessions or the lobby not remembering your favourites. Analytics and marketing measurement will be turned off for your visits, which is fine — the site will continue to function for everyone else as normal. You can choose to opt back in to any cookie category at any time through the cookie settings link in the footer.
